  • The Registered Radiologic Technologist is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility of patients for a designated time frame and to provide care, specifically in the Heart & Vascular Institute.
  • The patient population consists of those requiring an invasive cardiology or invasive radiology study.
  • The Registered Radiologic Technologist will assist the physician in all procedures and provide a valuable service to the patient and the team.
    Job requirements
  • Administers contrast material (when applicable), according to physician's request, by means of existing IV line or by performing venipuncture and placing IV line; recognizes and responds to hypersensitivity or allergic reactions.
  • All functions and duties will be under the direct supervision of a physicist or dosimetrist.
  • Assists with inventory/supplies.
  • Checks for correct patient and chart identification, diagnosis, and treatment position.
  • Compiles pertinent clinical information pertaining to lab, pathology, etc.
  • Assists in instruction of new staff as necessary.
  • Documents accurately and completely.
  • Explains procedure to patient and provides for patient care- including comfort, support, safety, and confidentiality.
  • Accurately informs procedural nurse of correct doses of intra-procedural medications, radiation and sponge/sharp counts.
  • Performs on call duties and/or work variable shifts as assigned to meet department needs.
  • Performs all essential functions of the Radiologic Technologist.
  • Administers and withholds contrast and treatment as appropriate.
  • Assess patients for allergies.
  • Peripheral Vascular work.
  • Venous Central Lines.
  • Tube Changes.
  • Embolization Work (Venous and Arterial).
  • Venous Thrombectomy Work.
  • Takes late shift duties as assigned to meet department needs.

    Additional Details
  • Capacity to learn and retain information regarding patient care and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, follow directions, and complete detailed work accurately.
  • Demonstrates compassion and caring in dealing with others.
  • Manual dexterity to handle small supplies.
  • Preferred Skills & Experience: Previous Radiologic Technology experience in a procedural setting.
  • Department-Specific Skills & Experience: Able to work around and maintain a sterile field during procedures.
  • Can pull supplies for procedures.
  • Experience with Interventional Neurology is preferred.
