- Be responsible for evaluating, planning, implementing, and documenting nursing care for Critical Care patients.
- Assist physicians during examinations and procedures.
- Perform various patient tests and administer medications within your scope of practice.
- Promote patient's independence by establishing patient care goals and teaching patients and their family to understand conditions, medications, and self-care skills.
- Regular and predictable attendance is an ESSENTIAL job function.
- Competent to meet age-specific needs of the unit assigned.
- 12-hour shifts with weekends and holidays as needed.
- State of Idaho (or compact) RN license prior to start.
- BLS required.
- ACLS required.
- NIHSS required.
- 2 years of recent ICU experience (minimum of 1 year within the past 3 years).
- 1 year of recent CVICU experience and/or immediate post open heart experience strongly preferred.
- Must have previous travel experience.
- IABP and Impella experience within the past year is required.
- 12-hour shifts.
- Willing to consider 36- to 60-hours/week contracts.
- No Call.
- Weekends and holidays as needed.
- Unable to approve time off requests outside of initial contract or extensions.
- Critical Care has a combined total of 32 beds: two 13 bed units and 6 overflow beds on 2 floors.
- Traditional staffing of 2:1 nurse patient ratio.
- 1:1 for post-TPA, CRRT, IABP, Impella, and immediate post open heart recovery.
- Candidate will attend general hospital orientation (typically 8 hours), then be provided two 12-hour orientation shifts with a preceptor.
- Interdisciplinary collaboration with a growing team of Intensivists and Advanced Practice Providers.
- Kootenai has maintained Magnet status since 2006.
- Level III Trauma Center designation.
- Kootenai Health is a member of the Mayo Clinic Care Network.
