General Information
- Beds:
- 5 Cath Labs
- 2 EP Labs
- 2 IR Labs
- Pre/Recovery Area: 36 beds
- Experience Required: Minimum of 2 years in Cath Lab/IR
- Travel Experience: At least 1 year required; first-time travelers not accepted
Patient Types
- Inpatient and Outpatient: Adults and some pediatric IR (not common)
- Acuity Levels: All levels from diagnostic to cardiogenic shock
Specific Patient Types
- Cath Lab:
- Diagnostic, LHC/RHC, simple and complex PCIs, cardiogenic shock, Impella, balloon pump, CTOs, laser, CSI, Angiojet, Penumbra, EKOS
- Structural heart procedures (Watchman, MitraClip, TAVR)
- General IR/Neuro-Vascular IR:
- Diagnostic imaging, simple and complex interventions (neph tubes, feeding tubes, port placements, embolization, etc.)
- EP:
- General EP including device implants (PPM, AICD) and ablations
Required Skillsets
- Travel Staff: Assigned based on experience/competency; experience in two modalities preferred (CL, EP, IR/N/V)
- RN Requirements:
- Ability to read and interpret EKG
- Cardiac Drip Titration
- Scrub experience preferred
- Tech Requirements:
- IR Techs: Scrub and circulate; neuro experience preferred
- CL Techs: Scrub, pan x-ray table, and monitor
- EP Techs: Scrub and pan x-ray table; EP monitor experience preferred
Required Certifications
- Tech:
- BLS
- ARRT and ME state license OR RCES/RCIS certified
Support Staff
- Nurse manager
- Two assistant managers
- Charge nurse
- Lead tech for each specialty area
Charting System/Equipment
- Charting System: CERNER PowerChart
- Specialty Equipment:
- Phillips x-ray (Cath Lab and EP)
- Siemens x-ray (IR/Neuro-Vascular)
- Various advanced medical devices (e.g., Maquet balloon pump, Impella, EKOS)
Scheduling
- Hours: M-F, 0700-1730; Four 10-hour shifts/week with 1 day off
- Call Schedule:
- 1 day/week and about every 6th weekend
- Weekday call: 1730-0700
- Weekend call: 1730 Friday – 0700 Monday
- Response Time: 30-minute response time; no sleep rooms available
Additional Information
- Floating: May float between Cath Lab/IR/EP within skillset limits; RTs assist with turnover and flow but do not take patient assignments.
Contract Length
- 13 weeks
