Job Description

  • License/Certifications Required:

    • CA RN
    • BLS - Basic Life Support
    • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support (AHA or ARC only)
    • PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support (AHA or ARC only)
    • NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure (AHA/AAP only)
    • CCRN - Critical Care RN
    • TNCC - Trauma Nursing Core Course
    • EFM - Electronic Fetal Monitoring (if applicable)
    • NIH Stroke Certification
  • Experience Requirements:

    • 5 years of recent relevant experience with direct care for stroke patients or as a nurse navigator.
    • Experience at the TSC or CSC level is highly preferred (thrombectomy stroke center or comprehensive stroke center).
    • Ideal candidates should have experience as a bona fide stroke coordinator for a comprehensive/primary stroke center or as an emergency department nurse well-versed in stroke care.
  • Responsibilities:

    • Plan, develop, coordinate, and direct the operation of a stroke clinical nursing program.
    • Oversee the execution of procedures and adherence to proper stroke protocols.
    • Develop and administer performance improvement initiatives for the stroke program.
    • Ensure program quality and compliance, and educate nursing staff.
    • Serve as a clinical and educational consultant to the healthcare team.
    • Provide direct patient care as needed, on an irregular basis.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Excel and Word).
  • Ability to ensure follow-through with responsibilities and communicate effectively with healthcare staff.

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Additional Information

  • Possible weekends with overtime.
  • Various certifications and health documents are required prior to starting, including but not limited to:
    • Physical Exam
    • TB Screening
    • Drug Testing
    • Immunization Records (e.g., Tdap, MMR, Varicella)
    • Background Check
