Required Skills and Certifications

• Licenses/Certifications:

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - as applicable
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) - as applicable
  • HIPAA Safety Manual Acknowledgement
  • CEUs for specific units (TELE, Stepdown, ICU, etc.)
  • NIH Stroke Certification - required annually
  • State License Verification (valid compact license or IN permanent license)
  • NURSYS Verification (for RNs, LVNs/LPNs, and APRNs)

Competencies

• Pass/Fail Testing: Required during the first day of orientation for various exams (e.g., Adult Medication Exam, Pediatric Medication Exam, EKG Exam).
• Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam: Required annually.
• Color Blind Testing: Required for all staff.
• Unit-Specific Competency Exams: Must be completed prior to start and updated annually.

Health Documents

• Physical Exam: Required within 1 year of start.
• Fit Mask: Required prior to start.
• Negative TB or Chest X-Ray: Required within a year of start.
• Drug Testing: 10 panel required within 3 weeks of start.
• COVID-19 Vaccination: Required (2 vaccines for Moderna/Pfizer or 1 for J&J).

Background and History Requirements

• Background Check: Required within 30 days and updated annually.
• References: 2 references within 6 months (supervisors or charge nurses).
• Employment Application: Required.
• Work History Verification: Please verify previous relevant employment.
