Job Description

• Assess patients on admission considering physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs.
• Reassess each patient's health needs at least every shift using nursing processes.
• Establish and update a plan of care based on data from assessments.
• Administer medications and document their effectiveness and any side effects.
• Perform treatments and procedures following nursing practices and hospital policies.
• Educate patients and families based on assessed needs.
• Communicate changes in patients’ clinical conditions to the healthcare team.
• Utilize SBAR communication for handoffs.
• Participate in multidisciplinary care planning.
• Manage patients in labor and newborns immediately post-delivery.
• Monitor fetal heart tones and uterine activity, and recognize signs of fetal distress.
• Document patient care and teaching effectiveness accurately.

Required Qualifications

• Current California RN License
• ACLS and BLS certifications
• Fetal heart monitoring certification
• NRP certification
• 3 years of recent Labor & Delivery experience in an acute care facility

Additional Information

• Contract Length: 83 days
• Shift: 2 days per week

Skills and Knowledge

• Knowledge of hospital infection control policies and blood transfusion documentation.
• Familiarity with Labor and Delivery policies and procedures.
• Ability to activate the Rapid Response Team and understand disaster plans.
• Understanding of patient rights, confidentiality, and safety protocols.
