EMR Cerner converting to Epic by Feb 2020

Charge Nurse - Try not to take patients assignment

Nurse Aides 1:8

Weekend Requirement - Every other weekend

Holidays - Every other holiday

Scrub Color - Caribbean blue, permissible to wear black and white shirts under uniform, top layer must be uniform color, pants can be black or Caribbean blue

Tele/Monitor Techs - All rooms have Phillips IntelliVue, Monitor Techs on site but Nurses must be able to read and interpret strips

Drips - All drips titrated

Vents - avea vents RT based out of ICU, IMCU - Bipap

Hospitalist or Intensivist in house - Hospitalist available 24/7

IV Team - Yes 7 am-8:30 pm, Nurse Resource for IV help 7 pm-7 am

RT 24/7 - Respiratory Therapy centered out of CCU

Pharmacy 24/7 - pharmacy available on the unit during the day

Shifts - 12-hour shifts starting at 7 am

Floating - Possible floating to tele or IMCU with a ratio of 1:5

Floor specific orientation - 2 Shifts

Common diagnosis/Types of patients - CVA TPA, AAA, MI, Hypertension, Overdose, ETOH, Detoxing Precedex, Whipples, GI bleed, ECOS, External temporary pacers, A-fib RVR, Septic shock.

Must have Covid Vaccine - No Booster needed

Floor specific orientation - 2 Shifts

Floating likely to tele or IMCU with a ratio of up to 1:5

Shifts: 12-hour shifts

Common diagnosis/Types of patients: CVA TPA, AAA, MI, Hypertension, Overdose, ETOH, etc.

Need strong customer service skills and compassion

Very high acuity with homeless, substance abuse, and mental health patients

Very difficult patient population
