IMPORTANT- Please note, this unit requires nurses with Med Surg experience, no previous Behavior Health/Psych experience is required, however, nurses must be okay with this population to be submitted. This unit is a secured medical unit. In order to be admitted to this unit, patients have a primary medical diagnosis but typically have a history of mental illness as well. They will be expected to care for patients who are in alcohol withdrawal, have a history of IV drug use, dementia, aggressive behaviors, and anything that a med/surg unit would care for.
IU Health is now offering charge pay.
MUST BE FLEXIBLE WITH WEEKEND REQUIREMENTS, WEEKEND REQUIREMENT WILL BE BASED ON UNIT NEEDS. TRAVELERS MUST BE ABLE TO WORK 50% OF THE WEEKENDS IN THEIR CONTRACT.
IU Health University and Methodist are teaching facilities and require all travel nurses to agree to the possibility of precepting and/or being assigned students to shadow them while on assignment.

Job requirements

Pre-Screening Question: Med Surg experience required.

Schedule information

Shift Requirements: 4x12 or 3x12
Floating Requirements: Unit travelers may be expected to float to different levels of care (Med-Surg, PCU, ICU).

Unit specific information

Patients with a primary medical diagnosis and history of mental illness.
Care for patients experiencing alcohol withdrawal, IV drug use, dementia, and aggressive behaviors.

Additional Details

IU Health is offering a $3.00 bill rate bump per hour for charge pay.
TRAVELERS MUST BE ABLE TO WORK 50% OF THE WEEKENDS IN THEIR CONTRACT.
PRECEPTING POSSIBILITIES: Travel nurses may be required to precept.
