Job Description

The Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) is responsible for examining, testing, diagnosing, and administering remedial treatments for patients with speech and hearing disorders. Key responsibilities include:

  • Evaluating patients and applying therapeutic techniques for rehabilitation of speech, language, hearing, and oral motor disorders.
  • Recording speech samples and conducting phonetic analyses.
  • Documenting test results and recommending remedial treatment.
  • Performing evaluations with a focus on receptive and expressive language skills, speech fluency, vocal and oral motor competence, articulation, and auditory skills.
  • Maintaining communication with patients regarding their progress and related issues.

Responsibilities

  • Directly responsible to the manager/coordinator or designee.
  • Assisting with the direction, utilization, supervision, instruction, and evaluation of supportive staff, volunteers, and students.
  • Interpreting and carrying out physician prescriptions and orders.
  • Ensuring good public relations and protection of confidential data.
  • Economic use of time, equipment, and supplies, ensuring safety and welfare of patients and associates.
  • Performing other diverse duties as requested.

Requirements

Education/Skills

  • Graduate of an accredited/approved school of Speech Language Pathology.

Experience

  • New graduates are accepted, although experience is preferred.
  • Intern supervision can be arranged for Clinical Fellowship Year (CFY).

Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications

  • Texas Speech Language Pathologist License, Intern Texas Speech Language Pathologist License, or eligibility to obtain licensure within 30 days of hire/transfer.
  • Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) by the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA) within one year of hire/transfer.
  • American Heart Association BLS certification.

Work Schedule

  • Shift: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
  • Additional Info: 1 weekend per month (comp day the week before and after)

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks
