Job Description

The Registered Nurse in the ICU/ED provides direct care in the Intensive Care setting. Responsibilities include:

• Formulating and implementing a plan of care based on patient needs using the nursing process (assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, evaluation).
• Monitoring and evaluating patient outcomes, modifying care plans as necessary.
• Collaborating with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure effective patient care delivery.
• Performing comprehensive assessments, including physical, functional, psychosocial, and medication history.
• Administering medications safely and managing pain effectively.
• Documenting nursing care in medical records and ensuring compliance with safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct assessments and reassessments, including pain management and patient education needs.
• Initiate and update patient care plans based on assessments.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams using effective communication techniques (e.g., SBAR).
• Maintain safety and security for patients, including fall precautions and emergency response.
• Adhere to National Patient Safety Goals and infection control measures.
• Respect cultural and religious practices of patients and uphold their rights to privacy and dignity.
