Job requirements

Must possess Medical and Surgical ICU experience.
ACLS/BLS certification required.
AIBP experience & CCRN preferred.
Ability to perform ventilator care, therapeutic hypothermia, PCI/STEMI, IABP, invasive hemodynamic monitoring, TEE/cardioversion, temporary pacemaker, manage sepsis, stroke/TPA, and DKA.
ICU RNs respond to Code Blue and Rapid Response Team calls.

Schedule information

Self-scheduling is encouraged.
End of week scheduling is available.
Overtime is okay if available.
Flexible scheduling offered.

Unit specific information

Number of ICU beds: 8.
Patient Ratios: 2:1.
Unit staffing description includes a mixed patient population, with an open ICU and goal staffing of 4 RNs 24/7.
Type of equipment: GE B650 cardiac monitors, ventilators, Gaymar cooling.
Documentation system used: Meditech.
Floating policy entails ICU may float to critical care or intermediate care areas when needed.
Patient experience requirements include AIDET validation during orientation, focus on nurse communication, use of whiteboards, hourly rounding, and bedside care conference/handoffs.

Professional scrubs and appearance required at all times (specific color not required at this time).

I’ve been with this organization for almost 5 years. Like most hospitals, staffing continues to be an issue. With that being said, if you pick up an extra shift they will compensate with an incentive. I may be biased, but teamwork is huge here at this smaller hospital. Everyone helps out and looks out for one another. Management is okay on days and nights.
