- Hospital located on the Western Side of Iowa in need of a PCU RN on a their Critical Care Unit. ICU experience is preferred but not required.
- The hospital is also seeking coverage on their night shifts.
- This is a twenty bed unit.
Job details
- ICU experience is preferred but not required.
- RN's - Pass/Fail exam on Friday during orientation.
- OPEN BOOK exam on skills learned - they are given all necessary resources to pass. Must receive a 90% to pass or they will be terminated.
Job requirements
- The hospital is seeking coverage on their night shifts.
- Shifts & Scheduling - 0630-1900, 1830-0700 // cyclic scheduling.
- Weekend Requirements - Every third.
- Holiday Requirements - 1 major, 1 minor.
- Floating Requirements - Will float to ICU if appropriate and has experience.
- How many shifts of unit/department specific orientation? - 1- 12 hour shift in the department.
Schedule information
- # of Beds - 22.
- Nurse:Patient Ratios - 1:04.
- Common diagnoses/Types of patients - Heart failure, Afib, respiratory distress, stroke.
- Are RNs required to titrate drips? - Yes.
- Common titratable &/or set rate drips - Cardizem, amiodarone, nitro.
- Is there a Charge Nurse on each shift? Does the charge nurse take an assignment? - Yes- does take a full patient assignment.
- Are there nurse aids/patient care techs on this unit? Ratios? Duties? - Yes- 1:10.
- RT Equipment (Vents, Cpap, BiPap, High Flow, etc.) Are RNs required to do anything with these besides trouble shoot? - CPAP.
- Are there Tele/Monitor Techs on this unit? Are RNs required to read their own strips? What brand are the tele monitors? - RNs must read and interpret strips.

- Fast paced unit with many admits and discharges.
- Attributes that help make a nurse successful in this department are a positive attitude, teamwork, patient oriented, and comes to work to care for someone.
- Radius Rule - 50 miles AND candidates may not be full time, part time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity.
- RTO needed upfront (7 or less days per 13 week contract). Additional RTO will not be approved, including after submissions.
