Job Description

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide holistic care for post-operative patients, including those who have undergone orthopedic, bariatric, urologic, or general surgical procedures.
  • Conduct assessments of patients, including physical, psychosocial, learning needs, and discharge planning.
  • Establish nursing diagnoses in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
  • Plan and update care according to identified diagnoses and needs.
  • Implement individualized care based on the nursing care plan, which may include:
    • Assisting with activities of daily living and fall risk management.
    • Medication administration.
    • Skin assessment and wound care.
    • Pain management.
    • Operation of biomedical and patient care equipment.
    • Assisting physicians with invasive and non-invasive procedures.
    • Educating patients and families about illnesses, medical tests, medications, and wellness promotion.
    • Supervising unlicensed assistive personnel to ensure optimum patient care.
    • Coordinating interdisciplinary care.
  • Document patient assessments, interventions, and teaching in the electronic medical record.

Evaluation and Communication

  • Evaluate care provided and communicate patient status to the interdisciplinary team.

Contract Length

  • 13 weeks

Additional Information

  • Experience Requirements:

    • 2 years of Med Surg experience (required).
    • Pediatric experience (preferred).
    • EPIC experience (required).
  • Certifications:

    • Certifications do not need to be active at the time of submission but must be obtained.
  • Licensure:

    • Oregon license does not need to be active at the time of submission but must be obtained.
  • COVID Vaccination: No longer required.

  • Other Notes:

    • 16 hours of unbillable overtime at 1.25x bill rate.
    • Client can cancel up to 4 shifts per 13 weeks.
