Registered Nurse, Medical-Surgical
Neuro Surgical MS RN - Nights - Deaconess Gateway
Guaranteed Hours: 36 (will accept 48 upon request)
Shift Requirement: 12hr Nights 6:30-7, every weekend
Patient Population: Neuro and Neuro-Surgical patients – CVAs, elective back/neck surgeries, post-op cranis, cerebral angiogram. General medical and psych
Skillset: NIHSS/dysphagia screen/strong Neuro assessments, basic tele interpretation, strict I’s & O’s/straight cath/Foleys, initiate/titrate heparin gtts., blood/blood product administration/venipuncture/blood cultures, NG tubes, indwelling drain management, stable gtts. (i.e. Protonix, Lasix, etc.). Must have strong assessment and critical thinking skills!

Job requirements

Minimum Experience REQUIRED: Two years of strong Med/Surg, 1 travel assignment, trauma level II experience
Charting Experience: Recent EPIC experience required (will be required to do a checkoff class)

Schedule information

Contract Length: 13 weeks
Start: 11/18 or 12/2- Bi-weekly orientation
Shift Requirement: 12hr Nights 6:30-7, every weekend
Float Requirement: First to float within skillset. 2 HR notice given for cross campus float. Mid-shift float within same campus. Cross campus mid-shift float is unlikely but possible
Weekend/Holiday Requirement: Every weekend. Every other holiday

Unit specific information

Unit Information: 37 beds. Ratio: Days 1:5-6; NOCs 1:5-7; CN takes partial patient assignment
Unit Strengths: Excellent leadership - manager has been with the organization since 2012 and managing the unit since 2020. Strong, well-development team of staff nurses who welcome travelers
