Job Description

Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse or physician, the LPN performs nursing duties in the care and treatment of patients on an assigned unit. Responsibilities include:

• Demonstrating proficient knowledge in the treatment of patients requiring nursing care.
• Using diagnostic results and other information for accurate evaluations.
• Applying knowledge of illnesses, injuries, and diseases in the nursing process.
• Performing timely, comprehensive, and accurate reevaluations and documentation.
• Ensuring residents' privacy during evaluations.
• Contributing to individualized care plans with measurable patient care goals.
• Monitoring patient outcomes and coordinating resources for post-institutional care.
• Collaborating with Care Managers, physicians, and other clinical disciplines.

Knowledge and Skills Required

• Ability to work in environments with dust, noise, etc.
• Proficient in hearing, talking, walking, standing, bending, and stretching.
• Capable of reading, writing, and interpreting documents.
• Ability to sit for long periods and stand at patient bedsides or procedural areas.
• Effective communication skills with patients and co-workers.
• Knowledge of handling hazardous waste and materials.
• Ability to operate and clean medical equipment.
• Physical capability to assist in lifting patients.

Physical Requirements

• Routine exposure to blood, body fluids, and tissue.
• Potential for exposure to hazardous materials.
