Job Description

• The unit accepts first-time travelers.
• Shifts: 3x12 rotating shifts in the Acute Care Surgery unit.
• Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Patient Procedures

• Continuous Bladder Irrigation (CBI)
• Flaps
• Microsurgery
• HIPEC patients
• Whipple
• Bariatric surgery patients
• Leech therapy

Surgical Specialties

• Bariatric Surgery
• Colo-Rectal Surgery
• Plastic Surgery
• Urology Surgery
• Surgical Oncology

Experience Requirements

• Epic experience for Electronic Medical Records (EMR) is required.
• Experience with Progressive Care.
• Experience with post-operative surgical procedures and care.

Contract Length

• 13 weeks

Certifications Required

• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
• Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure (NRP)
• Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
• NIH Stroke Certification
• State License Verification (Permanent RN license required; temporary licenses not accepted)
• NURSYS Verification (for RNs)

Health Requirements

• Physical Exam: Initial physical, updated annually.
• Vaccinations:

  • Tdap vaccine required (declination accepted).
  • Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray required.
  • Flu vaccine or exemption required.
• Drug Testing: 9-panel drug screen required.

Background Check

• Criminal background check required within 60 days of start.

Additional Information

• Candidates must complete a skills checklist and provide proof of education.
• References required.
• Performance evaluations will be completed at the end of the assignment.
