Job Description

• Patient Care Model: The unit is trialing team nursing, where two nurses and a PCT partner together to care for a group of patients. Nurses may function in either team nursing or primary nursing depending on the trial status.
• Patient Ratios: Targeted ratios are 1:4, but can be up to 1:5-6.
• Patient Population: Primarily consists of COPD, CHF, Pneumonia, Flu, Sepsis, Diabetic Ketoacidosis, and Post-COVID patients. The unit supports trach, vents, bipaps, and high-oxygen requirements.

Requirements

• Experience:

  • Must have 1:5 ratio experience in SD or PCU (ICU experience does not count).
  • Minimum of 1.5 years of experience, with some level 1 or 2 preferred.
  • Vent and EPIC experience required.
• Certifications:

  • BLS and ACLS required (must be able to read and interpret strips).
  • Pass an online EKG tele competency assessment before starting.
• Floating Requirements:

  • Travelers will float at Premier's discretion and may be assigned to high-risk respiratory units or COVID care.
  • Must be available to work every other weekend and holiday.

• Health Requirements:

  • Must complete a physical exam within 2 years of start.
  • Proof of vaccinations and negative TB or chest X-ray required.
  • Drug testing and background checks are mandatory.
