- Registered Nurse specialty position available at VCU Health, located in Richmond, Virginia. This long term care unit accommodates residents transferred from PICU/NICU, some for family training with shorter stays. The unit strives for active resident engagement through school, therapy, and outings. It has 32 beds often fully occupied, with over half residents having trachs and almost half being ventilator dependent. The night shift is akin to an inpatient step-down unit. Candidates must have minimum 2 years peds experience and trach/vent experience; general peds experience is acceptable. Candidates must also be experienced with home ventilators (EVO, Asteral, LTV).
Job details
- Must have PALS and BLS certifications.
- Minimum 2 years pediatric experience.
- Experience in a step-down level of care.
- Tracheostomy and ventilator experience required.
Job requirements
- Requires 4 weekend shifts per 6 week schedule period, approximately 8-10 per contract. Blocked weekend scheduling is an option.
Schedule information
- 32-bed unit.
- Trachs and ventilators are prevalent among residents.
Unit specific information
- Government-issued photo ID required.
- AHA certifications only accepted.
- Certifications expiring within 1 month from start of contract not accepted by VCU.
- No onsite renewals offered, renewals must be scheduled by the agency.
