Job Summary

The Card Cath Technologist performs daily procedures in the electrophysiology laboratory, including:

• Catheter ablations
• Pacemaker and defibrillator implants/removals/upgrades
• Tilt table tests
• Direct current cardioversions
• Cardiac lead extractions
• Electrophysiology studies
• Left atrial appendage closures

Job Duties

• Ensure correct order is obtained and patient is properly identified and prepared for exams.
• Utilize appropriate imaging protocols while maximizing patient safety.
• Prepare and/or administer medications as prescribed.
• Evaluate images for proper positioning and technical quality.
• Educate and monitor students and other healthcare providers.
• Assist licensed practitioners with fluoroscopic and specialized interventional cardiology procedures.
• Maintain and troubleshoot electrophysiology laboratory equipment.
• Initiate ACLS protocols as required for cardiac roles.
• Participate in ongoing clinical research trials pertinent to the electrophysiology laboratory.

Position Details

• Education:

  • Graduation from an accredited Cardiovascular Technology Program required.
  • International Board of Heart Rhythm Examiners (IBHRE) or RCES status required after two years of hire.
  • ARRT certification as a Radiology Tech is required to maintain.

• Experience:

  • Minimum of 1 year of related work experience preferred.

• Certifications and Licenses:

  • ACLS Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification within 6 months.
  • Basic Life Support Certification within 6 months.
  • Registered Cardiovascular Electrophysiology Specialist RT(R)RCES preferred.

Work Environment

• Typically performed in a clinical environment.
• Hours: 7 am start time, potential for five 8-hour shifts or four 10-hour shifts.
• Weekends: None
• Holidays: No Major Holidays
• On Call: None
• Travel: None
