Job Summary

The MRI Technologist I performs procedures in accordance with departmental protocols and standards, operating MRI scanners and associated equipment proficiently.

Essential Functions

• Verify orders and examine requests for each assigned patient.
• Communicate with Radiologists and ordering providers regarding discrepancies.
• Identify patients using two identifiers and assist them with procedure explanations.
• Prepare patients for procedures and document on appropriate worksheets.
• Conduct patient interviews to gather complete medical histories.
• Review EMRs for pertinent clinical history and record medical history on requisitions.
• Ensure the quality of images and consult with Radiologists as needed.
• Perform basic patient care functions and inform nursing personnel of any changes in patient conditions.
• Initiate life support measures and assist in medical emergencies.
• Maintain sterile techniques and adhere to infection control policies.
• Follow radiation safety standards for self, employees, patients, and family members.
• Operate the radiology computer system for entering orders and charging procedures/supplies.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area.

Physical Requirements

• Moderate to heavy physical effort in lifting and moving patients, equipment, and supplies.
• Frequent standing, walking, and sitting; may require stretching, bending, twisting, squatting, or kneeling.
• Exposure to various physical conditions, including hard surfaces and moving equipment.
• Adherence to radiation safety guidelines to prevent exposure to ionizing radiation.
