Job Overview: Research Nurse
Position Summary
The Research Nurse is responsible for coordinating multiple research protocols and serving as a liaison with local investigators, clinical staff, and research personnel. This role involves gaining a strong understanding of research operations and regulations related to human subject research.
Major Responsibilities
- Adhere to the “Code of Conduct” and “Mission and Value Statement.”
- Complete assigned training requirements by due dates.
- Accurately complete study medication order forms and obtain necessary signatures prior to medication administration.
- Perform routine operational activities for multiple research protocols.
- Liaise between site research personnel, industry sponsors, and supervisors.
- Collaborate with various site departments, including finance and local IRB, if applicable.
- Coordinate protocol schedule of assessments from initial submission to study closeout.
- Provide instruction on research protocols to staff, including interpretation of test results and related study data.
- Assess patients and document findings at each clinic visit.
- Document all specific tasks required by the protocol, including medication forms and vital signs.
- Ensure all medications are approved prior to treatment initiation or changes.
- Accurately calculate and document necessary conversions per protocol.
- Document all patient interactions while enrolled in a protocol.
- Schedule follow-up appointments and related procedures according to protocol requirements.
- Complete all data requests and submit with source documentation within specified timeframes.
- Generate and track drug and device shipments as needed.
- Ensure timely and accurate data completion.
- Track and report adverse events and protocol deviations.
- Re-consent patients in a timely manner and document the process appropriately.
