Job Description

• Assess patients on admission considering physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs.
• Reassess each patient's health needs at least every shift using nursing processes.
• Establish and update a plan of care based on data from assessments.
• Administer medications (oral, topical, parental) following the 7 rights.
• Document effectiveness and side effects of medications and treatments.
• Perform treatments and procedures adhering to nursing practices and hospital policies.
• Educate patients and families based on assessed needs.
• Analyze diagnostic data and communicate changes in patients' clinical conditions to the healthcare team.
• Use SBAR communication for handoffs.
• Participate in multidisciplinary care planning and evaluate patient care effectiveness.
• Follow hospital policies on patient rights, infection control, and safety protocols.

Requirements

• Certifications:

  • PALS
  • BLS
• Licensure:

  • CA RN License
• Experience:

  • 3 years of recent PICU acute care experience in a facility
• Shift Requirements:

  • 2 Days: 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM
  • 1-3 shifts per week
  • Must float to Pediatric/PICU, OB (newborns only), NICU, Med Surg (sitter only)

Additional Information

• Knowledge of blood transfusion policies and documentation.
• Understanding of disaster plans and activation of the Rapid Response Team.
• Familiarity with National Patient Safety Goals and hospital infection control policies.
