Position Details

Job Description

  • Shift: 12-hour nights
  • Target Ratios: 1:6
  • Hours Offered: 36 or 48 hours per week (48 hours with no overtime until after 48 hours)
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Float Requirement: Occasionally
  • Patient Population: Surgery patients (colorectal, general surgery, hepatobiliary, orthopedics/spine)

Required Skills and Certifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years (1.5 years with strong experience accepted)
  • Travel Experience: First-time travelers accepted
  • Skills: IV Start and Telemetry
  • Certifications Required:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - if applicable
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) - if applicable
    • Chemotherapy certification - if applicable
    • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - if applicable
    • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) - if applicable
    • NIH Stroke Certification - if applicable

Unit Systems

  • Systems Used: Pyxis, SBAR, EPIC

Scheduling and Orientation

  • Scheduling Type: Self-scheduling based on unit needs
  • Unit Orientation: 36 hours

Dress Code

  • Scrubs: Navy blue or white

Additional Information

  • RTO (Request Time Off): Not allowed after booking and must be worked out onsite.
  • Call Offs: Any call-offs or additional RTO on the unit could lead to cancellation and DNR (Do Not Resuscitate).

Health and Compliance Requirements

  • Physical Exam: Required within 1 year of start
  • TB Testing: PPD, Qgold, or Tspot within 1 year of start
  • Drug Testing: Required within 30 days of start
  • Vaccinations:
    • Flu vaccination required by 10/31/24
    • COVID-19 vaccination required for per diem candidates
  • Background Check: Required within 90 days of start

Competencies

  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam: Required for specific RN specialties
  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam: Required as applicable

Facility Specific Documents

  • Confidentiality Agreement: Required for all candidates
  • Education Roster: Required for all candidates
  • Tobacco-Free Campus Acknowledgement: Required for all candidates
