Job Description

  • Facility Overview:

    • A brand new state-of-the-art facility, the Jack & Sheryl Morris Cancer Center, is set to open in May 2025. It will be New Jersey’s first and only freestanding cancer hospital, integrating RWJBarnabas Health and Rutgers Cancer Institute.
  • Work Schedule:

    • Shift: 8:00 AM - 6:30 PM
    • On-call: 2-3 days per week (RNs assist with PICC but do not insert)
  • Experience Requirements:

    • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a stroke center (Level I or II experience required)
    • First-time travelers are accepted
    • ED or ICU experience is highly preferred
  • Patient Mix:

    • Interventional Radiology covering Morris Cancer Center
    • Some conscious sedation recovery (patients may go to PACU)
  • Required Skills:

    • Proficiency with specialty equipment (e.g., EKOS, A-line, procedural wedge pressures)
    • Primary RN responsibilities
    • Coverage for portable Midline team for midline insertion house-wide

Certifications and Documentation Requirements

  • Mandatory Certifications:

    • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • NIH Stroke Certification (required for all Adult Critical Care Specialties RN/LVN/LPN)
    • Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB) or CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute) for ER RNs
    • Additional certifications may be required based on specific unit needs
  • Health Documents:

    • Physical Exam (within the last 12 months)
    • Negative TB or Chest X-Ray
    • Influenza vaccination or medical/religious exemption documentation
    • Drug Testing (10-panel required within 30 days of start)
  • Background Check:

    • Criminal Background Check required within 30 days of start
    • Must include all aliases and locations lived/worked in the past 7 years
  • References:

    • Two references required within the last 2 years, including at least one managerial reference.

  • Facility Policies:
    • Must complete all required training and documentation prior to start.
    • Compliance with RWJBarnabas Health policies and procedures is mandatory.
