Pros
The doctors, nurses and techs are all super nice. You're able to pick-up call easily and will get plenty of overtime on call. You're going to average 54 hours a week working and about 8-11 days of call days in the month. The weather is amazing in this area. You're going to be right next to wine country paso robles and less than an hour away from big sur.
Cons
The cost of living is very high, it is one of the highest gas costs in California. The staff here are clearly burnt out from overwork although management is trying to allow staff to not have to work after spending late nights working but most likely you will have some late nights sleep 4-5 hours and return. There are no sleep rooms. They add on a ton of elective cases so expect to work late when you are on call. There is only one person to help turn over rooms until 1830 so you will help during the day and after hours.
