  • Job Summary: The Nuclear Medicine /Radiologic Technologist participates in activities which assures quality patient care.
  • Essential Functions: Perform radiographic exams that utilize ionizing radiation while providing protection for all patients using ALARA principles, as well as supervising staff technologists in the correct use of radiation producing equipment.
  • Perform invasive procedures and exams requiring the use of contrast agents, both oral and intravenous injection (venipuncture), under the direct supervision of a radiologist, as well as supervising staff technologists in the correct performance of these duties.
  • Participates in performance improvement activities in the Radiology Department.
  • Participates in continuous quality improvement activities within the hospital or in the Radiology Department.
  • Adheres to principles of infection control in performing direct patient care.
  • Performs safety/control checks on department equipment as per department standards.
  • Demonstrates proper application of medication administration principles.
  • Provides protection of the patient via proper lead shielding, confidentiality, railing etc.
  • Wears radiation film badge all the time while in work status.
  • Explains procedures to patients and ensures that the proper consent forms are signed.
  • Provides age-appropriate care, as evidenced by completion of age-specific competency checklist.
