  • General Information
  • Beds: 12 OR’s – 9 ran Mon-Fri 0700-1500, will taper down throughout the day
  • 20 Pre-Op bays
  • 14 PACU bays
  • Patient Types: Surgical (Urology/Neuro/Ortho/Robotic/General/Podiatry/ENT), Pre and Post Recovery (Phase I and Phase II) with some ICU level care needed.
  • Patient Ratios: OR 1:1, Pre-Op 1:2, PACU Phase I - 1:1 or 1:2, based on acuity, PACU Phase II - 1:2-3
    Job requirements
  • Required Experience: 2 years of OR – Level 1 or 2 trauma experience
  • First-time traveler approval required
  • Travelers must live >100 miles away from facility
  • Permanent staff wait 1 full year to return as a traveler
  • Required Certifications: RN: BLS, ACLS
  • Required Education: Completion of a nursing education program approved by a board of nursing; Registered Nurse (RN) - South Dakota Board of Nursing
  • Skills required: RN: Ortho-Trauma (ORIF, Ex fix, Amputations), Neuro (Craniotomy, Spinal), General, Robotics (Davinci XI), Surgical experience in a tertiary care center, Pre-Op/PACU (to include ICU skillset in PACU)
    Schedule information
  • Shift Details: Weekend rotation – If position is posted as weekend only and on-call, every 3rd weekend
  • Call: Ideally, one overnight per week 7p-7a and every 3rd weekend Fri 1500 – Mon 0700; subject to change as needs change within the department
  • Holiday Expectations: 2/4 major holidays
  • Time off approval process
    Unit specific information
  • Support on the Unit: Surgery - RN/First Assist/Surg Tech, Nurse Clinician, CRN, Service Line Lead x2, HUC, Scheduler, Preference Card Analyst, OR Techs x 1/case, Anesthesia
  • Support on the Unit: Pre-Op/PACU - RN/Nurse Aide (6), Nurse Clinician, CRN x 3
  • Charting System/Equipment: EPIC (notify if there is no EPIC experience), Omnicell, Alaris
  • Floating: RN: As needed (PreOp/PACU/Floor) – if floated out of peri-op services, will be as helping hands
  • Orientation: All specialties - 1 week
  • Other notes: Scrub Color provided, Free Parking
