Job Description

• Unit Manager: Willing to work with staff for emergent situations regarding time off, provided the time is made up at the end of the contract.
• Required Skills/Certifications/Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience (1.5 years with strong experience accepted).
  • Travel experience: First-time travelers accepted.
  • Locals accepted.
  • Skills: IV Start and Telemetry.
  • Certifications: BLS required.

Job Details

• Target Ratios: 1:6
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Hours Offered: 36 or 48 hours per week (No overtime until after 48 hours).
• Shift: 12-hour nights
• Scheduling: Self-scheduling based on unit needs with input from the Nurse Manager.
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend.
• Float Requirement: Occasionally.

Patient Population

• Surgery patients (colorectal, general surgery, hepatobiliary, orthopedics/spine).

Unit Systems

• Pyxis, SBAR, EPIC

Orientation

• Unit Orientation: 36 hours

Dress Code

• Scrubs: Navy blue or white

Additional Information

• Certifications Required:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure)
  • Chemotherapy certification (if applicable)
  • TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
  • EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring)
  • MOAB (Management of Aggressive Behavior) for ER and BH nurses.

• Competencies:

  • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam
  • Color Blind Testing
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam

• Health Documents:

  • Physical Exam
  • Fit Mask
  • Negative TB or Chest X-Ray
  • Drug Testing
  • Flu Seasonal Vaccination/Documentation
  • COVID-19 Vaccination (if applicable)

• Background Checks:

  • Criminal check required within 90 days of start.
  • Education verification required for the highest degree earned.

• State Specific Searches:

  • North Carolina Healthcare Registry search required within 90 days prior to start.
  • North Carolina Division of Medical Assistance search required within 90 days prior to start.
