Unit Information: Stone Springs Hospital L&D Unit located in Northern Virginia (30 miles outside Washington, DC).
Floor: 2nd floor.
Patient Ratios – varied, depending on stages of labor.
Type of equipment – Labor tubs for midwifery patients; Fetal monitoring system.
EMR – Meditech and CPN.
Typical hiring profile skill set most recruited for: Minimum of 2 yrs Labor experience, flexibility, teamwork.
List typical procedures performed on unit(s): Labor, vaginal deliveries, C-sections, Inductions, OB ED (triage).

Schedule information

Number of Beds – 10 Labor Beds and 13 postpartum beds and 2 ORs.
Number of Staff – growing rapidly --- usually staff with 4-5 Labor RNs and 2 Postpartum RNs and OB scrub tech. Also have Lactation consultants. Also have Level 2 NICU with 2 RNs 24/7.
24/7 in house OB Hospitalist and 24/7 in house Neonatology provider.

Unit specific information

Type of staff: Day Shift – 4-5 labor RNs/shift; 2 postpartum RNs/shift; scheduler/birth registrar M-F.
Night Shift – same.
