Job Description

The Registered Professional Nurse (RN) will provide safe, competent quality care based on nursing theory and research to a designated group of patients and their significant others.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Patient Care

  • Deliver patient care using the professional practice model of Relationship Centered Care.
  • Assess and evaluate patient care needs, applying critical thinking skills.
  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary healthcare team to develop and implement care plans.
  • Educate patients and caregivers about their care plans and health promotion.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team.

Patient Experience

  • Model the tenets of Mount Sinai Relationship Centered Care.
  • Establish and maintain therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
  • Initiate service recovery for patients and families with concerns.
  • Conduct Purposeful Hourly Rounding (PHR) on assigned patients.

Quality and Safety

  • Practice safe, patient-centered care and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams on quality improvement projects.
  • Implement principles of high reliability to ensure patient safety.

Operations

  • Perform charge nurse duties as assigned.
  • Coordinate with management to ensure adequate supplies and staffing.
  • Document nursing practice accurately and thoroughly.

Professional Development

  • Support clinical colleagues and contribute to a positive care environment.
  • Advance clinical competence and participate in shared decision-making.

Required Skills

  • NYS RN License
  • BLS and ACLS certifications
  • Experience in Telemetry and Ventilator care
  • Minimum of 2 years of RN experience, including 1 year of travel experience
  • EPIC experience is highly preferred

Contract Length

  • 89 days
