Job Description

The role involves assuming responsibility and accountability for facilitating, communicating, and collaborating with both the healthcare team and the patient/family to identify and meet the physical, emotional, and spiritual needs of the patient. Key responsibilities include:

• Patient Assessment: Evaluate patients' physical, psychosocial, cultural, and spiritual needs through observation, interviews, and review of medical records.
• Care Planning: Develop and implement patient care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.
• Therapeutic Interventions: Demonstrate competency in various interventions, including IVs, wound care, medication administration, catheterization, and specimen collections.
• Patient Advocacy: Promote and advocate for the health, safety, and rights of each patient.
• Education: Provide patient/family education based on assessed learning readiness and needs.
• Relationship-Based Care: Engage patients as partners in their care, respecting their preferences and values.
• Resource Management: Effectively use time, personnel, equipment, and supplies to deliver high-quality, cost-effective patient care.
• Team Collaboration: Function effectively within nursing and inter-professional teams, fostering open communication and mutual respect.
• Mentorship: Precept and mentor new staff or nursing students as needed.
• Continuous Learning: Seek out learning opportunities and maintain professional records that demonstrate competency and lifelong learning.
• Quality Improvement: Participate in unit-based quality improvement, evidence-based practice, and research activities.

Additional Information

• Minimum Experience Requirements: One year of experience preferred, with nursing skills and knowledge specific to the specialty.
• Float Requirements: May be required to float to any Centura location within 60 miles of the original assignment or within a Centura-identified “float zone.” Float assignments may include duties outside of the original job requirements in accordance with Centura policy.
