Job Overview: Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: North Kansas City, Missouri
Facility: North Kansas City Hospital
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 4x12 hour Nights (Every other weekend required)
Start Date: ASAP (Tuesday Orientation)
Experience Required: 2 years (No first-time travelers)
License Required: MO RN or Compact
Charting System: Cerner experience required

Certifications Required

• ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support (American Heart Association)
• BLS - Basic Life Support (American Heart Association)
• PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support (required for ED/ER & Peds; ENPC accepted in lieu of PALS)
• TNCC - Trauma Nursing Core Course (required for ED/ER and ICU candidates; ACTN cert acceptable in lieu)
• NIH Stroke Certification - Required for MS, Tele, ICU/Neuro ICU/CCU/PCU, and ER
• EKG Pass/Fail Testing - Must pass an EKG exam on orientation day with a score of 80% or higher

Additional Requirements

• CEUs: Specific CEU requirements based on unit placement (e.g., stroke, trauma, cardiac)
• Health Documents:

  • Physical Exam (within a year of start)
  • Fit Testing (must pass; no facial hair)
  • Flu Shot (required by 11/1; exemptions accepted)
  • Negative TB or Chest X-Ray (within a year of start)
  • Drug Testing (10 Panel required within 3 months of start)
• Background Check: Required covering all states and counties lived/worked within the past 7 years
• References: 2 recent references required
• Skills Checklist: Required for specific roles (e.g., ED Nurses, Surgical Techs)

Competencies

• Proof of OSHA, HIPAA & Joint Commission required annual training
• Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing for EKG/Medication
