Job Description

• Required Skills/Certifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience.
  • First-time travelers are accepted.
  • Required skills: IV Start and Telemetry.
  • Required certifications: ACLS, BCLS, NIH.

• Patient Diagnoses:

  • Pre/Post Cath, Pre/Post PPM & AICD, Watchmen Procedures, Stress Tests, Management of Arterial & Venous sheaths, TIA population, Carotid Stent Patient Management, Card-Tele, Management of Arrhythmias, Management of cardiac drips (Cardizem, Amiodarone, Renal Dose Dopamine, Lasix, non-titrating Nitro Drips for stable CP, NSTEMI Patients).

• Unit Details:

  • CPPU is a 24-bed inpatient cardiac procedural unit.
  • Average length of stay: 1.8-2.4 days.
  • Rapid patient turnover with an ADT nurse available Monday-Friday.

• Scheduling:

  • Ratios: 1:5-6.
  • 36 hours can be offered with 12-hour night shifts.
  • Floating is required as needed to similar units.
  • Required weekends: 4 weekend shifts per each 6-week schedule.
  • Absences must be made up at the end of the contract.

Additional Information

• Competencies:

  • Must pass EKG Testing prior to start.
  • Various certifications and competencies are required, including but not limited to:

    • Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam
    • Color Blind Testing
    • Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam

• Health Documents:

  • Physical Exam within 1 year of start.
  • Negative TB or Chest X-Ray.
  • Drug Testing required within 30 days of start.

• Flu and COVID-19 Vaccination:

  • Flu vaccination required by 10/31/24.
  • COVID-19 vaccines are no longer required for travel placements.

• Background Checks:

  • Criminal check required within 90 days of start.
  • State-specific searches required.
