- Operates CT equipment to obtain diagnostic images and information according to departmental protocol.
- Explains exam to patient taking into consideration physical and emotional needs.
- Maintains effective working relations and communication with departmental and other hospital personnel.
- Calibrates and verifies the operation of all equipment to be used during the work day.
- Executes paperwork and Radiology Information System functions as necessary for each patient exam.
- Performs venipuncture for purposes of contrast administration under the direction of a radiologist.
- Attends staff meetings, in-services, and maintains appropriate CEU's.
- May oversee and instruct various personnel and technology students within the department.
- Prepares the equipment room and supplies necessary for each patient and regular daily use.
- Participates in research programs, quality assurance and quality improvement projects.
- Assumes responsibilities for on-call coverage and remains flexible in all shift coverage and overtime situations.
- Transports and transfers patients using established procedures according to departmental guidelines.
- Uses independent judgment, ingenuity and initiative under pressure when performing patient exams.
- Must be a graduate of an approved school of Radiologic technology.
- Must possess a current Massachusetts State Radiologic Technologist license.
- Must be registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or equivalent.
- 2-3 years experience as a Radiologic technologist preferred with at least one year in cross-sectional anatomy courses.
- Interpersonal skills sufficient to interact effectively with patients.
- Analytical abilities necessary to acquire and effectively utilize knowledge of imaging processes, techniques, and procedures.
- Staff will be required to rotate within department, divisions and all off-site clinics by shifts as required and needed.
- The position is for a CT Technologist.
- Level 1 trauma center experience.
