Experience: Level 3 or level 4 experience preferred; UAC/UVC, chest tubes, phototherapy, breastfeeding support, OG/NG feedings. 2 years of experience.

Common titratable &/or set rate drips: TPN, D10, Dobutamine

Are RNs required to titrate drips?: Yes

Experience with ventilators required

Weekend Requirement: Every other

Holiday Requirement: Rotational

Is there a call or standby requirement?: Two, 12 hour on call shifts per four week schedule; If flexed off for scheduled shift, may be required to take on call for scheduled shift hours.

Ratios: AWHONN

Charge Nurse/House Supervisor: Charge nurse without a patient assignment/House Supervisor 24-7.

Are there nurse aids on this unit/Ratios: Yes, 1 to 8

Neonatologist in house 24/7?: No

RT Equipment: Ventilators, UAC/UVC, Chest tubes

Is there tele on this unit?: Bedside monitors, no Monitor Tech, RNs read strips.

Floating Requirements: Same pool of nurses work NICU and NBN. Will not float to outside areas.

Scrub Color/Dress Code: RN/LPNs - Navy scrubs, OR Techs - Surgical attire, WVU Medicine or solid color fleece zip-ups, may be worn in grey, black, navy or royal blue. Solid undershirts may be worn under scrub top in matching color or white, black or gray. Closed toed shoes, no crocs.

Unit/Departments specific orientation: General hospital orientation, Nursing orientation, Computer training, three - 8 Hours nursing orientation. 8 hour meditech if no experience. 3-4 12 hour orientation shifts with a preceptor.
