Position Details

Job Description
- Patient Population: Primarily Medical Surgical patients with Oncology history and occasional Chemotherapy administration.
- Target Ratios: 1:6
- Shift: Nights
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend required.
- Call Requirement: Call required if called off on a prescheduled shift.
- Floating Requirement: Required to float to similar units and alternate care locations.
Required Skills and Certifications
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year in an inpatient setting (Med/Surg, Oncology).
- Skills:
- Administer chemotherapy
- Colostomy care
- Accessing ports
- Blood product administration
- Central line blood draw
- Peripheral line care/management
- PICC line management
- Heparin and insulin administration
- Monitoring chemotherapy
- Wound care and management
- Certifications:
- Chemotherapy administration certification (required prior to start)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
Preferred Skills and Certifications
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)
- Charge nurse experience
- OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse)
Additional Information
- Patient Diagnoses: General medical-surgical diagnoses, including AKI, Sepsis, Cancer, Septic shock, Pain, and Diabetic foot ulcers.
- Unit Systems: PYXIS, EPIC, SBAR.
- Unit Orientation: 24 hours (2 shifts).
- Scrubs: Navy Blue and white.
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Health Documents:
- Negative TB or Chest X-Ray
- Drug Testing
- Medical Release Form
- Flu Seasonal Vaccination/Documentation
- Background Check: Required within 6 months of start.
- Education Verification: Required for the highest degree earned.
Special Notes
- Must pass EKG Testing prior to start for this specialty.
- Attendance at monthly staff meetings is required.
- Contract staff may be required to work during catastrophic events or disasters.
