Job Description

The Registered Nurse (RN) will coordinate the plan of care, provide direct age-appropriate nursing interventions, and patient education by collaborating with ancillary, nursing, and other patient team personnel. The RN will direct a team of CNAs, LPNs, and Ward Secretaries, working under the supervision of the nurse manager and/or house supervisor.

Essential Functions

  • Utilize acceptable standards of practice based on nursing process and theory to assist individuals/families/groups with complex and unpredictable needs.
  • Coordinate care using a multidisciplinary holistic approach.
  • Promote a climate in which consumers can act in their own interest or intervene when they are unable to do so.
  • Provide age-appropriate education to individuals/families/guardians using a variety of teaching activities.
  • Work to achieve desired healthcare outcomes by effectively utilizing human and material resources.
  • Maintain accountability for ethical, legal, and professional responsibilities related to nursing practice.
  • Promote the philosophy and mission of Montrose Regional Health.
  • Perform other incidental and related duties as required, including floating to other departments.

Qualifications

Education

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program with an Associate's, diploma, or Bachelor’s degree.

Training and Experience

  • Experience is preferred but may not be required.
  • Orientation is based on previous knowledge and experience.
  • PALS certification is required within 9 months of hire.
  • ACLS, ENPC, TNCC, and Chemo Certification are highly recommended.

  • Strong interpersonal skills and sound judgment for communication with a diverse range of individuals, including patients.
  • Ability to make informed decisions based on facts and knowledge.
  • Capability to perform detailed work and maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work harmoniously with employees and make decisions under pressure.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

  • Regularly required to see, talk, and hear.
  • Frequently required to sit and use hands and fingers.
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Work Schedule

  • Shifts: Nights, Weekends, Charge, Holidays
  • Schedule: 3-12 hour shifts per week
