ACLS

Travelers will need to pass a dysrhythmia exam within 48 hours of receiving offer, through RELIAS, only (with 2 MAX attempts).

There is also a PASS/FAIL SIM LAB on day one of orientation (study guides will be provided with first day instructions.)

MUST HAVE a strong cardiac tele background, preferably 2 years.

Must be able to decrease cardiac drips per physicians’ orders and parameters.

Nurses will be caring for more tele patients VS medical.

Ability to self-schedule; however this could change from time to time.

4 weekend shifts in a 4 week schedule.

Rotate in with the perm staff

No call required

Ratios: 1 to 4

Required certifications: BLS, ACLS

Common diagnoses/Types of patients: ED holds waiting for placement on a unit, primarily MS/Tele

Are RNs required to titrate drips? Yes

Common titratable &/or set rate drips: Cardizem, Heparin, Amiodarone

Charge Nurse/House Supervisor: ED charge nurse.

Are there nurse aids on this unit/Ratios: ED PCTs available

RT Equipment (vents, Cpap, BiPap, etc): No Vents

Is there tele on this unit? Monitor Techs? RNs read strips? Nurses must be able to read & interpret strips. No monitor tech in the ED.

Unit/Department specific orientation: 2 shifts orientation to Med/Surg/Tele at primary campus.

Scrub Color/Dress Code: Navy

May be asked to help with ED patients including vitals, IV starts and medicaton administration.

Will not be asked to be primary RN for ED patient assignment.

4 weekend shifts in a 4 week schedule; first to float, could float to sister facility Mercy Gilbert
