  • Day Shift: 0630-1900
  • Night Shift: 1830-0700
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: As needed

Unit Information

• Department: Med Surg Ortho RN
• Number of Beds: 29
• Patient Ratios: 1:5-6
• Common Diagnoses/Types of Patients:

  • Joint replacements
  • Neuro-surgicals
  • GI surgicals
  • Oncology
  • General medical cases not requiring a higher level of care
• Nurse Aids/Patient Care Techs: Yes, with a ratio of 1:10
• Charge Nurse: Yes, takes patient assignments regularly when needed
• Tele/Monitor Techs: Yes, RNs must be able to read basic rhythms

Requirements

• Certifications Required:

  • BLS
  • ACLS (preferred)
• Experience: Ortho and Peds experience preferred
• Floating Requirements: May float to Inpatient Rehab, Skilled Nursing, and Progressive Care Units as needed

Additional Information

• Dress Code: Navy Blue scrubs
• Orientation:

  • First week in classroom
  • 2 shifts of 12 hours on the floor
• Work Environment: Fast-paced unit with a fluctuating census, focused on hourly rounding, bedside shift report, nurse communication, and team nursing.
• Ideal Candidate: Team players who are positive, flexible, willing to learn/adapt, and dependable.

Radius Rule

• Candidates must be located within 50 miles and may not be employed full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity.

Time Off

• Requests for time off (RTO) must be submitted upfront (7 or fewer days per 13-week contract). Additional RTO will not be approved after submissions.
