Position Details

• Job Title: Registered Nurse
• Location: Rice Lake, Wisconsin
• Facility: Marshfield Medical Center, part of Marshfield Clinic Health System
• Employment Type: Travel/Contract
• Contract Length: 12 weeks
• Shift: 12-hour nights (1700-0530), 36 hours per week, flexible weekends, and holidays (every third holiday)

Unit Description

• Patient Population: Blended unit of Medical-Surgical (MS) and Intensive Care Unit (ICU) patients.
• Bed Capacity: 5 ICU beds and 27 MS beds.
• Patient Ratios:

  • ICU: 1:2-3 depending on acuity
  • MS: 1:5-6
• Additional Responsibilities: ICU RNs may take 1-2 MS patients depending on acuity or ICU volumes.

Required Certifications

• Mandatory:

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• Preferred:

  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• Additional Skills:

  • Ability to read telemetry strips required.

Experience Requirements

• Must have higher acuity PCU or ICU experience as this is a mixed unit.
• Expectation to care for PCU-ICU level patients as well as MS patients.

Additional Information

• Documentation Requirements:

  • Current Driver's License or Government-issued photo ID
  • Various certifications (e.g., ACLS, BLS, PALS)
  • Background checks and employment verification
  • Health documents including TB tests, vaccinations, and physical exams
• Competencies:

  • Unit-specific competency exams required within 12 months of start.
  • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam must be completed and updated annually.

Health and Safety Requirements

• Vaccinations:

  • Flu vaccine required during flu season (September 1 - April 1).
  • COVID-19 vaccination documentation required.
• Health Documents:

  • Drug testing and fit mask testing required prior to start.
  • TB screening and other health assessments as specified.
