$500 Travel Allowance Hours of Operation Monday thru Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM INTRODUCTION: The purpose of this position is to serve as a Radiological Technologist and is responsible for the technical operation of stationary and portable roentgenolcgical equipment in conjunction with the taking of routine fluoroscopy and special examinations, and the processing of radiographic films. II. MAJOR DUTIES Independently performs a variety of routine to complex radiographic procedures. Positions and transfers patients for some various 500 positions and tube angulations. Explains procedures, selects and sets voltage, time and other technical factors and makes expo sures necessary for the requested procedure Produces ionizing radiation within a safe permissible range so as to achieve a quality radiograph. Selects and operates radiographic equipment for various MA. KVP and HAS settings. Selects proper technical factors on an individual patient basis, either by means of phototimer exposures or various selector exposures. Develops exposed x-ray film by automatic processing. Prepare chemicals for the automatic film processing unit so as to maintain a proper level for replenishment for every film entering the processor for development. Provides patient protection in accordance with prescribed safety standards related to radiographic examination. Maintains up-to-date current posting of technique exposure guide based on positioning for all radiographic units in the service unit. Assists physicians in administering opaque media for all prescribed radiographic examination. Takes radiographs such as IVP, Barium Swallow, Cystograms and Gallbladder. Assists in performing first-aid as necessary initiate CPR when a cardiac arrest occurs within the Radiology Department. Practices sterile techniques and prevent cross-contamination in various exams such as; Cystograms, Intravenous Pyelography and other procedures done within the confines of the Radiology Department. Assists the Radiologist in the administration of ionizing radiation in special examinations performed in conjunction with the physician. Positions or places the patient in the positions to obtain the views requested. (Positioning may include immobilizing the patient with straps, sandbags or cushions and shielding the patient from excess radiation with protective devices such as lead shields). Performs technical radiological services for CCHCF for maintenance of prescribed standards. Maintain quality control for a given set-up standards processing and x-ray units. Instructs, monitors and assists ancillary personnel in obtaining quality examinations at Field Clinics. Trouble shoot problems end provide continuing education to field personnel operating x-ray equipment.
