Job Title: Nurse Manager, Behavioral | PMCS, TRUST Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced Nurse Manager for the Behavioral Health department. The Nurse Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operation and clinical supervision of staff in the Department of Nursing. This leadership role ensures that the Inpatient Service operates smoothly and delivers high-quality patient care in compliance with regulatory standards and evidence-based clinical practices. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Establish and maintain positive relationships with patients, visitors, and employees. Implement hospital policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with regulatory agency standards. Manage unit operations and collaborate with the Director for day-to-day oversight. Coordinate performance improvement activities as an interdisciplinary process. Prepare reports and data related to clinical activities and regulatory compliance (NY State Office of Mental Health, DOH, JCAHO, etc.). Monitor patient admissions, discharges, and ensure appropriate clinical management and discharge planning. Lead performance improvement data collection and compliance for regulatory agency surveys. Handle budgeting, supply, and inventory management. Provide 24-hour operational leadership and administrative coverage when needed. Ensure that nursing care meets PCS Scope of Service, Philosophy, and Ethical Standards. Participate in continuing education for administrative and clinical skill enhancement. Innovate and implement best practices in patient care. Lead HCAPS development with team and service. Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements. Perform other duties as assigned by the Director or Senior Vice President for Patient Care Services. Required Skills & Experience: Minimum of 5 years as a Registered Nurse required. At least 5 years of clinical experience in psychiatry required. A minimum of 2 years of leadership experience in a healthcare setting. Critical thinking, math, and computer skills, with the ability to work collaboratively as a team. Ability to monitor compliance with NYSDOH, JCAHO, and other regulators. Strong knowledge of quality improvement models, processes, and tools used in healthcare settings. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Ability to make decisions and solve problems effectively. Must be able to read, write, see, and hear English. Competence in leadership, budgeting, and administrative responsibilities. Ability to fully utilize BHMC’s electronic systems. Education & Certifications: Required Education: Graduate of an accredited Nursing school (BSN). Preferred Education: Master’s Degree in Nursing. Required Certifications & Licensure: Licensed and currently registered as a Professional Nurse in New York State. Basic Life Support (BLS). Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
