Mental Health Clinician Location: Rikers Island – 1500 Hazen Street, East Elmhurst, NY 11370 Facility: New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation Department: Psychiatry – Mental Health (Correctional Health Services) Start Date: 04/21/2025 End Date: 07/19/2025 Schedule: Monday – Friday, 4:00 PM – 12:00 AM (40 hours per week) Responsibilities: Provide mental health care to incarcerated adult men. Conduct mental health evaluations, crisis interventions, assessments, and follow-up care. Determine and coordinate patient disposition for appropriate care levels. Work with Reentry Social Workers on discharge planning. Collaborate with the Department of Correction to ensure patient access, housing, and treatment. Develop and lead group therapy sessions. Maintain required documentation and statistical reports. Participate in case conferences, treatment planning, and clinical supervision. Conduct psychological testing as assigned. Qualifications: Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field. Valid NY State License (LCSW, LMHC, or licensure in Psychology). Experience in mental health assessment and treatment for adults with behavioral issues, substance use history, or severe mental illness. Preference for candidates with inpatient or correctional health experience. Skills Required: Clinical Assessment Mental Health Counseling Discharge Planning Documentation Patient Care
