Pride Health is hiring a Medical Laboratory Supervisor to support our client’s medical facility based in Roanoke, VA 24014. This is a Salaried Position with an excellent opportunity to join a top-tier healthcare organization! Location: Roanoke, VA 24014 Schedule: Monday through Friday, The hospital typically begins the first shift at 5 or 6 AM, so this role will require an early start. Weekend and holiday coverage may be necessary in critical situations, with this responsibility being more common for the supervisor rather than the manager. Must be flexible as the role oversees all shifts in the hospital setting Pay Range: $80K - $95K Offered pay rate will be based on education, experience, and healthcare credentials. Responsibilities: Plan, organize, schedule, and direct the work of the department to maximize the utilization of employees, equipment, and materials within budget constraints while adhering to quality technical standards. Oversee activities of the department, distributing and assigning work, determining priorities, and scheduling non-routine procedures. Supervise assigned staff including interviewing, hiring, training, and providing staff development through performance evaluation and corrective counseling. Perform advanced/specialized tests and laboratory techniques; review and confirm test results, and re-evaluate methodology as needed. Check and approve all specialized and problem reports for accuracy. Initiate and monitor quality control measures to ensure adherence to laboratory standards. Perform duties of technologists as necessary during staff absences or peak workloads. Complete special projects such as surveys, statistical reports, studies, and research. Maintain laboratory areas and equipment in a safe, functional, and sanitary condition. Adhere to all established CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA, and laboratory safety requirements. Answer client or lab personnel questions as needed and participate in regulatory inspections when required. Qualifications: Required Certification: Board Certification in MLS or MLT for the state of Virginia. Required Education: 4-year degree in a scientific field, preferably in Microbiology or a similar field. Minimum 4-5 years of full-time supervisory experience is highly preferred, though 1-2 years may be acceptable with good people skills. 1-3 years of hands-on experience in hospital Micro/Molecular laboratory testing, with a strong focus on microbiology. Proven leadership and problem-solving skills. Ability to communicate complex test results confidently with physicians and clients. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Laboratory Information Systems. Ability to handle biological samples and hazardous chemicals safely.
