Job Summary: The Nuclear Medicine /Radiologic Technologist participates in activities which assures quality patient care.
Essential Functions: Perform radiographic exams that utilize ionizing radiation while providing protection for all patients using ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable) principles, as well as supervising staff technologists in the correct use of radiation producing equipment. Perform invasive procedures and exams requiring the use of contrast agents, both oral and intravenous injection (venipuncture), under the direct supervision of a radiologist, as well as supervising staff technologists in the correct performance of these duties. Participates in performance improvement activities in the Radiology Department Participates in continuous quality improvement activities within the hospital or in the Radiology Department Adheres to principles of infection control in performing direct patient care
Performs safety/control checks on department equipment as per department standards.
Demonstrates proper application of medication administration principles.
Provides protection of the patient via proper lead shielding, confidentiality, railing etc.
Wears radiation film badge all the time while in work status
Explains procedures to patients and ensures that the proper consent forms are signed
Provides age-appropriate care, as evidenced by completion of age-specific competency checklist.
Schedule: 8am-4:30pm, Mon-Fri Certification/Licensure Required: NMTCB or ARRT(N), BLS Required
Additional Skills/Information: Hospital based department that performs exams on outpatients and inpatients Needs to have experience in both Nuclear Medicine and PET Experience with GE equipment is a plus
