Must have experience working in Operating Room as Director. General summary: Design and implement care and coordination of surgical services consisting of Operating Room, Pre-operative, Post-Anesthesia Care services and Anesthesia services. Director of Perioperative Services will be responsible for planning and organizing activities within the service line to ensure achievement of quality matrixes, exceptional patient outcomes and engaged staff, while partnering with the medical staff. Oversite of staffing, scheduling, education, regulatory, and compliance in all facets of the role. Responsible for development and adherence to department standards, utilizing AORN and other professional organizations as guidelines for evidence based practices or practice based evidence in Perioperative services. Job Qualifications: • Education: Associate Degree or Diploma in nursing. Bachelor or Master Degree preferred. • Must have a current RN Texas license. • BLS, ACLS, and PALS are required. CNOR and TNCC is desirable. • Membership in a professional organization is desirable. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the administrative, legal and ethical (mission, vision, and values) requirements/objectives of the organization. 2. Directs and evaluates departmental operations, including information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management, utilizing benchmarking data to achieve higher levels of performance and quality control objectives. 3. Plans and monitors staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives. 4. Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding. Coordinates and directs internal/external audits. 5. Maintains staffing as volumes change and works to identify opportunities to modify systems and processes to further improve quality or reduce cost. 6. Directs and oversees program development, performance management, personnel activities, budget, and the provision of services. Works to ensure effective physician and staff relations. 7. Oversees department operations. 8. Demonstrates effective communication, consultation, negotiation, and collaboration skills with members of the perioperative team and interdisciplinary team members. 9. Attends and participates in required Nursing Service committees and meetings. 10. Develops and empowers management teams to lead daily operations, resolve issues, manage employee performance, manage physician relations, ensure high quality patient care and service excellence, and ensure operational efficiencies. 11. Acts as a patient advocate and maintain privacy and confidentiality of all appropriate information. Other Significant Requirements: A. Maintains confidentiality while working with confidential matters on a daily basis. B. Provides service direct to patients while maintaining a positive maintaining a positive patient relations atmosphere. C. Interacts with patients, family members, Medical Staff members and other department managers on a continuous basis. D. Follows aseptic procedures and procedures for using precautions when involved in direct patient contact or handling potentially infectious materials. E. Provides teaching to patients both pre- and post- operation. F. Follows safety guidelines and policies for the Hospital District. PROFESSIONALISM: Each member of RRH is expected to follow dress code for the position held and act in a professional manner that will increase the individual employee’s credibility with the community. Professional behavior is expected to be demonstrated through the words, actions, and attitude towards fellow team members, patients and their families, physicians, and all others with whom an employee comes in contact with during the course of their duties at RRH. DEPENDABILITY: Provide quality patient care and program leadership through dependable, timely activities as needed. TEAMWORK: Teamwork is an essential element in a good work environment. All staff is expected to be supportive of each other, and resolve conflicts according to hospital policy. COMMUNICATION: Clear and accurate verbal and written communication skills are essential. SAFETY: Due to possible contact with infectious diseases, exposure to environmental hazards, universal precautions including use of PPE must be adhered to. CONFIDENTIALITY: The employee agrees to hold all confidential information in trust and confidence and agrees not to disclose it to any other third party without the written permission of the Hospital.
