Pros
Cath Lab - very, very busy, but a well oiled machine. No TEEs or Loop Records or any of those little things in the Cath Lab itself, they get handled in other areas. Lots of paramedics as techs. A big, fun group to work with. All the MDs are surprisingly skilled operators. 6 Cath Labs, a structural heart lab and a vascular surgery hybrid lab. EP is separate, has another 4labs for EP. Raleigh is not a terribly expensive place to live, there are lots of housing options in the area, and the hospital is right off the interstate making it relatively easy to find housing within 30min call time.
Cons
500-900 STEMIs/year means that if you're on call its not a question of IF you get called in but HOW MANY TIMES. But large staff means lots of people to share the call burden with. 3 man teams means you're working hard while at work. Not unusual to have 5 or 6 MDs working before 8am, and to still have 2 MDs working working after 6pm, as most of the guys will schedule 8-12 cases on the days they are in the lab.
