ob Posting: Pathologists' Assistant - Hospital Setting (13 week contract) Location: Hackensack Meridian Health - Hackensack, New Jersey Salary: Competitive (based on experience) We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Pathologists' Assistant to join our team in a hospital setting. The ideal candidate will assist pathologists with surgical specimens, tissue dissection, and various pathology-related duties, ensuring accurate and timely preparation for analysis and research. Responsibilities: Assist the pathologist in the selection, preparation, and dissection of surgical tissue sections for routine examination, immunofluorescence, electron microscopy, and more. Handle photography, gross description, and specimen processing for intraoperative consultations and other necessary studies (e.g., frozen section, tissue embedding, and staining). Procure fresh tissue samples for biorepository tissue banking and other studies such as cytogenetics and flow cytometry. Operate Faxitron for x-ray imaging and submit images to PACS system. Ensure the maintenance of equipment, cleanliness, and adequate supplies for gross anatomic dissection. Assist with post-mortem examinations and support pathology residents, including external examination and dissection when needed. Perform necessary computer system functions for the timely reporting of results. Adhere to hospital and organizational standards of behavior and competency assessments. Skills & Qualifications: Experience: Minimum of 10 years’ experience in pathology with a strong background in grossing high-complexity specimens. Education: Bachelor's degree from a NAACLS-accredited institution in Health Sciences or a related biological discipline. Pathologists’ Assistant certification is required. Certifications: ASCP certification in anatomic pathology is required. Preferred: Master’s degree and experience with frozen section preparation. Additional Requirements: Ability to lift a minimum of 30 lbs and stand for extended periods. Strong attention to detail and adherence to medical standards. Nicole was very helping and always proficient with reaching out and even going above and beyond when the facility itself was slacking. When the facility canceled all contracts the day before start date she found me another position within the same week. I would recommend her 10x over.
