Job Description: CVICU RN dedicated to the care of critically ill patients with heart and vascular issues; thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, delivering advanced medical care to those with severe cardiovascular conditions. Requirements: - BLS (AHA) - ACLS - NIHSS - CA RN Licensure - 4 years of experience as a CVICU RN - Float to SDICU as needed Shift: 3 x 12 nights 1900-0700, every other weekend. No on call requirement

Pros

Everyone is very nice to travelers. The unit supervisor is very nice and works with you. There are plenty of resources, including on unit phlebotomy, ed techs that actually do their jobs, RT, etc. You always get your breaks, which is really nice, 2 30s and a 15. Each pod has a resource nurse too, which is nice.

Cons

As a traveler, you will be the first to float into their psych area, but you will almost always have a tech or another nurse that knows the flow of the unit with you. Some of the charge nurse don't really keep track of how heavy your assignment may be. If you have an open bed, they'll fill it. I know that's pretty common in a lot of busy places though. You also are in charge of arriving the patient in the computer at time of triage and you have to strip and clean your room between patients.
