Job Title: Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) Location: Ione, CA Shift: Monday - Friday, 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM (4/10 schedule may also be considered) EMR: CERNER Contract Duration: 28 weeks Job Summary: We are seeking a qualified Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) to provide essential mental health services within a correctional facility. The LCSW will be responsible for conducting mental health evaluations, providing crisis intervention, and developing treatment plans for patient-inmates/youths. This position requires the ability to work in challenging environments and perform a variety of clinical functions to support the mental health needs of the population. Responsibilities: Serve as the clinician-of-the-day, available on-call during scheduled workdays for patient emergencies. Conduct initial mental health evaluations, including criminal, psychological, and substance abuse case history, to assess inmate needs and develop treatment recommendations. Perform clinically sound suicide risk evaluations, applying appropriate risk assessment protocols, reviewing relevant data, and providing proper documentation and consultations. Conduct crisis interventions, group therapy, and face-to-face interviews with mentally ill inmates/youths. In some cases, clinical interviews may take place at cell fronts in inmate housing units, which may require climbing stairs or walking long distances. Identify the signs and symptoms of psychiatric disorders, accurately diagnose, and manage presenting symptoms. Write clinical reports regarding diagnoses and prognosis, and develop treatment plans reflecting professional standards. Consult on complex cases with supervisors, treatment teams, and other healthcare personnel. Document all care provided, including face-to-face interactions and participation in Interdisciplinary Treatment Team (IDTT) meetings. Monitor inmate progress using CDCR-approved documentation formats for progress notes. Apply community standards for non-medical treatment modalities and ethical practices. Perform Mental Status Examinations (MSE) during face-to-face clinical interviews. Review prior mental health records, institutional files, probation reports, court records, and other available documents to assist in formulating diagnoses and treatment plans. Conduct mental health education and develop additional resources for mentally ill and sex offender patients/inmates/youths. Assist patients in applying for entitlement benefits (e.g., SSI), and connect them with community programs and services. Facilitate transitions for patient-inmates/youths between various settings within the institution. Perform pre-release functions, including patient education, to assist with transitioning to community mental health programs. Engage in medical social functions as needed, particularly in a CTC setting. Actively participate in IDTT meetings and contribute to program development and improvement. Compile and analyze data from audits related to mental health program compliance. Provide appointment documentation, no-show records, and other data to support staff for accurate record entry. Provide written reports and consultations to the Board of Prison Hearings and other CDCR staff. Communicate with patient-inmates' relatives and caregivers, in accordance with patient consent and confidentiality protocols. Develop and maintain therapeutic relationships with patients, families, and caregivers, ensuring effective treatment delivery. Represent the Department in formal and informal settings regarding mental health issues related to clinical social work. Ensure the safety and security of property, including documentation of unusual occurrences and inventory control. Maintain order and supervise the conduct of persons committed to the correctional facility, ensuring safety and preventing escapes. Offer input and assist in implementing new programs for patient-inmate/youth treatment, training, and rehabilitation. Adhere to California and CDCR laws, regulations, policies, and procedures, especially regarding patient confidentiality, documentation, and the release of patient records. Follow mandated reporting requirements for incidents involving staff or patient safety, including child abuse, elder abuse, and other potential threats. Job Requirements: Licensing/Certification: Valid LCSW license in the State of California. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (American Heart Association). Experience: Minimum of 24 continuous months of experience in a similar role, preferably in a correctional or institutional setting. Vaccination: Must be COVID-19 vaccinated.
